Real deterioration of ability

Simming in late 30s now, and I was lucky/rich enough to pick up Lou Gehrig as a free agent. He is now 34 and soon his real life stats drop off due to his ALS.

My settings are Dev on, Recalc on, Neutralised, remaining career, 3 yr periods.

I am just wondering does OOTP just use the stats for his '39 to change his up coming ratings, or go on standard age & normal degradation?

The sort of selfish (game wise) reason I am asking is I can trade him for a 22 year old DiMaggio... very tempting offer especially as my CF is not as good and 12 years older...

This everything that's wrong with historical solo play and recalc. If that's what fun for you, go for it, but it would make me lose interest very quickly.
