Resign or Resign?
I don't think that I've mentioned this before, but when players send in-game e-mails to you, hoping for contract extensions, the emails often state that the player wishes to "resign". Now, contextually, I'm pretty sure that the intent is to have them express their desire to re-sign with the team (sign again).
However, when I first read the word resign, my mind interpreted that word not as re-sign, but as expressing a desire to quit. A friend looking over my shoulder initially interpreted it the same way. Perhaps another word could be used whose meaning is a little less ambiguous?

Why did whoever created the two words create them that way? They've always confused me big time. Watching ESPN, on the Bottom Line, I'll see "(Team's) coach '(name)' resigns." Wow...how informative...now tell me whether he'll be back next year or not.
