Version 0.9.19 Game Update Now Available

Our newest game update, Version 0.9.19, is now available:

FHM - Update 0.9.19

Installation instructions: After you download the file just install it over your existing game (you don't need to un-install the old version first!). Make sure to select the correct path to your game if needed. (this link should avoid the problems we had earlier with older cached versions, but you may still want to double-check when you start the game that it's version 0.9.19 - look at the bottom of the startup screen, it should read "Version 0.9 Beta Build 19.")

Saves from version 0.9.17 are compatible with this version, those from earlier versions are not. (Note that if your save is from July 1, 2013 or later, you may be better off restarting - a bug fixed in 0.9.19 will have disabled most playoffs from the second season onward.)

No complete patch notes this time, as this is basically a hotfix that introduces some significant speed improvements when autosimming games. It also fixes the aforementioned playoff bug, and a recently-introduced crash bug involving AI teams that was eventually causing unavoidable crashes.

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to nail down the crash some people are experiencing in viewed games immediately after the first save. We'll be back at work on that tomorrow, and hopefully will have it fixed for the next update.

I can't seem to get a new file going here. "Can't load Game database" or something to the effect. It may be some picture packs I'm trying. My bad.

Nope, re-installed it, something fishy is up with it

What's the exact message you're getting, and when is it appearing - at startup, or when you try to create a new game?

It happens when I try to start a new save file, it says "Could not create game folder" At first I thought it was the picture files I was playing with, but it is not, as I re-installed it, same problem. I have however gotten it to work twice, but upon trying to open the save file or start a new one, this is the error I get. The game opens up fine, just when I try to create a new one, I cannot go any further.

Ah, that sounds like an issue with Windows User Account Control not letting the game write to your save game folder. Try starting the game in Administrator mode (right-click on the icon, then Run as Administrator) and that should fix it if that's what the problem is.

I had a feeling it was something like that, I had tried giving the entire folder read/write capabilities, and it didn't work. I'm new to this Windows 8 thing.

Now it's giving me "Invalid Database Version" I'm sure it's something with my PC again,

Just did a quick re-install, everything seems good now

Regarding the next update: I had hoped to do a data one this week, but some changes we've made to the team data cause problems without some corresponding game updates. And the game update still needs additional work and testing, so it's not looking like a good idea to release it this week. I'd also like to start re-enabling some of the league-editing features we disabled at launch, and that'll require testing, as well.

So, next update (game and data) will be scheduled for next Wednesday, May 8. If that changes, I'll let you know.

Time for promise is passed. Game is not freeware but it is not playable to the current date. You should work hard to do it more enjoyable. To present FHM 2014 is far beyond EHM 2007.

Oh man, here we go again. You paid for the game that is released in September and got the beta as a bonus for your preorder. It's not freeware, it's a beta. Jesus, can't people read?

(Don't want to sound annoying.. but just can't wait to play this.. with bug or not!)

I'm sure the september release will be really enjoyable.. so just chillax guys..

If you are not happy with the current state of the BETA do what I am doing. Put it aside until they fix the issue that prevents you from playing. Frankly I care little about having many playable leagues or historical modes etc. I want the NHL to be playable and enjoyable. Currently a few issues are there but what makes it a non-playable league in my mind is the broken trading (mostly the draft pick and unsigned prospect worth). Until it is fixed I'll play other games including EHM. They still have 4 months to make it work, I'm not worried.
