Valo, born in Czechoslovakia in 1921 took to the American game of baseball so well that he was a major league outfielder by age 19 in 1940. His odyssey around the major leagues between 1940 and 1961 was a near-record for number of teams played for at that time, especially for a non-pitcher. He also had a penchant for playing with teams who were about to move and played with 3 teams in the last year in their old city and the first year in their new location.

Thanks for the info on Valo. A very fascinating story. Here are a few more of Valo with the Phillies in 1956 and 1961, The Dodgers in 1958, the Indians in 1959, and the Yankees in 1960.

Have had a long request to do additional seasons for my baseball card project. Though I said I would never add any to what I have already done (1957-1972), I decided to finally do 1956. It was a year when some great HOF players played their final year so it was fitting that I do it after all. Thanks to Tony for gathering all the photos and Guy for also finding and enhancing photos, Mark also did some really nice colorizations for me including two more great Bill White photos (NYG) and a very nice one for Frank Torre (MIL). As always, I also found some great images here on OOTP and Baseball Birthdays. There were just 13 players I could not find. There are manager cards as well.
