Thanks again Merkel for your posts and I am checking daily for a new image i can use. Here is MY all time elusive player and the type of image I prefer.
First, the pose is thigh high or ankle high, of course color, NO action, home pinstripe uniform, and the original years with the Mets. If you haven't guessed the player is LeGrande Orange; Rusty Staub. I know he had some contract issues with Topps so there are not many from that source and most shots are head shots or action. He did have a few posed image in second stint with mets. Here is my place holder until (hopefully) you can be the Houdini of baseball images.

Just to set things straight...the uploader's name is Merkle923..not Merkel, and 923 as the legendary Merkle's boner that happened September 23rd 1908 (9/23), during the wild 1908 pennant race.

Thanks! Tony Horton is very rare. He apparently had contract issues with Topps much like Rusty Staub & Maury Wills. I have read about the "nervous breakdown" he suffered in 1970 and how it ended his career. My heart really goes out to him. I used to look at the league leaders cards from 1970 and wondered who Horton for Cleveland was as the only Horton I had cards for was Willie Horton with Detroit.

In honor of our patron saint Merkle who has so kindly answered our many requests, I submit these cards and photos of Fred Merkle.

I am looking for Steve Hargan, Steve Kline, Bob Johnson, and Junior Moore. Though I am sure no color photo exists, a 1973 Joe Pepitone with the Braves would knock me out. Thanks to all for making this place the equivalent of the corner market where we would buy a pack of cards!

I have a handful of guys on pennant-winning clubs I'm hoping for (even B&W would do):

- Eddie Miller UIN on the '84 Padres
- Adrian Garrett in the Oakland A's vest-style uniform they wore through 1971 (a spring training '72 pic would likely fit the bill)
- Bob Johnson, Sam Bowens and Steve Barber wearing the "cartoon bird head" cap of the '66 Orioles championship team - I do have these through team photos, but I was wondering if there was anything bigger and less grainy out there.

Btw, while looking through my A's file, I'm reminded that the only pictures we have of Floyd Robinson with the 1968 A's are a couple of heavily-shadowed 3x5's from Spring Training. You'd think that there would be more pictures, given not only Floyd's resume (albeit in decline at that point) but because the A's had taken his cousin, Tommy Reynolds, in the Rule V draft. Where's the "cousins united in Oakland" picture, I wonder? Merkle923, if you have any Floyd/A's shots, that would be quite cool.

I also second the call for Gene Stone of the '69 Phillies (currently just a chunky blob in B/W) and cite two other Phillies of that era from the UIN list, that I would enjoy having:

John Stearns, 1974 Phillies (because I love the Bad Dude)
Howie Bedell, 1968 Phillies (because I do NOT love Don Drysdale, so props to Howie for ending his "streak").

But, as always, it's all good.
