That's gotta be your server then. Is it a hosted site?

Our league is having issues with checking the boxes for Auto-Draft in the draft utility. You can click the checkbox but its as if nothing happens.

Getch- any ideas why?

Yes, hosted site. However, the rest of the site is operating at normal speeds. Only OOTPOU and shell access seems slow. Hosting provider said everything is "normal" (take that with a grain of salt, gotta love hosting providers). Was there an issue with Live Sim that takes up a lot of server resources or had continual running scripts after use?

odd draft behavior

looks like Cubs got skipped. Later picks had deadlines of today (Sunday). Cubs deadline is middle of Monday with no pick yet, and auto list and auto if time expired are checked. First picture is the selections screen. Second pic is the admin screen showing settings.

Any ideas??

That usually means the javascript is not set up properly. Have you run "Generate UI Files" from the main Admin tab? That should put the javascript files in a place the browser can see them.

If it still doesn't work, open up the draft page in OU in a browser and in the browser menus, click "View Page Source". Find the text:

Make sure the URL for the source actually points to the OOTPOU.js file. If it doesn't, then probably a setting in your Admin page like "HTML root directory on server" is incorrect.

Live Sim has an issue that it has a lot of people hitting the server at the same time, due to the continual page refreshes that it needs to keep the Gamecast constantly updating. So, it doesn't kill the CPU (each call to the server is very simple), but it can really slow some servers down just because they can't handle the traffic.

Your old friends at the GUBA hit this the second time we ran Live Sim for the playoffs... the first one went fine, though, for whatever reason. Regardless, it requires a rewrite of how Live Sim/Gamecast works to make it not hit the server so much. It's something I kinda knew I would need to do at some point, but now that the GUBA hit it I might do it sooner rather than later.

However, if Live Sim isn't running, the rest of OU should work fine.

I have never seen that before. And I think the draft code has been around for almost 8 years now, if you can believe it. So, congrats?

Regardless, when something incredibly bizarre like that happens, what you should do is just edit the cgi-bin/OOTPOU/draft/<year>/<league>/picks.txt file by hand using a text editor. Each row in the file represents a pick, and it should be pretty obvious what happened and how to fix manually in the file.

Let me know if you have any questions, and if when editing the file you can spot what had happened.

Well, we had only gone about 5 picks past that so we just went back to that point and continued with the Cubs pick and it looks like everything is working fine now.

No idea what happened.

I am installing a fresh version on a home web server everything seems to work fine until I try to login. it's a fresh install so everything should be baseball. I re-installed a number of times

Due to changing web hosts, both my leagues have new installations of the utility, and I am seeing similar problems in each.

Everything looks good throughout the installation, and development shows fine. But Last Sim stats are empty.

In the Last Sim Admin screen, is there a date for the "Last Update of Sim Report" value and is it correct? If not, it sounds like the process never completed, possibly due to memory/CPU constraints on your server.

Very odd. The date has always been correct, but sim after sim, no stats.

Now, suddenly, it seems to be working. Very confused, but hopefully it will continue to work.
