Question Steam release ETA?

Any Idea when OOTP15 will be up on STEAM? When can pre-order's expect their keys?
And I have a few friends waiting to buy it on STEAM also!

No idea on Steam, but the keys are on your email....unless of course I am missing the ball and striking out.

If your friends did nor pre-order then they wont be able to buy it until Monday. Only pre-orders got the game 3 days in advance.

If you did not get an e-mail from Steam if you pre-order contact them as they usually answer fast.

I would suggest Fridays timing is a good guide.

I think you guys missed the OP's question though. He wanted to know when people who pre-ordered the game will receive their STEAM keys, which I believe are completely separate from the standalone keys. Even if the game goes up on Steam on Monday, we will need the Steam key in order to download the game there.

Assuming it does in fact go up today, it will almost certainly be at the usual Steam update time, 1:00 PM Eastern / 10:00 AM Pacific.

As for the Steam keys, unfortunately I'm not sure. Perhaps they've worked it out with Valve to have the normal keys work on Steam. I believe Eagle Dynamics recently did the same with their keys.

Alrighty, this will be my first OOTP game. Super excited! Does anyone know if I buy it right now from this website if I will get a Steam key?

I really want it on Steam but I don't know if I can wait until it is released!

I tweeted the OOTP twitter account and got an answer.

Not a definite date, but hopefully it is sooner rather than later.

The main thing about Steam is that it exposes OOTP to people who might not otherwise know about it. It's kind of like an App Store that is focused on PC gaming.

There's nothing necessarily great about it; it's just personal preference for one method over another.

I think this is spot on. Steam's not really delivering anything you can't get by buying OOTP directly -- but OOTP15 will get way wider exposure this way. (I'd be curious to know how well OOTP14 has sold on Steam, actually.)

If you enjoy PC gaming in general, though, Steam really can't be beat. I'm not looking to start an argument with those who dislike Steam because of its DRM -- that's a perfectly valid viewpoint -- I'm just saying I've found it to be an excellent service, pretty much a necessary PC tool for me, like having a webbrowser or antivirus program.

I will have to check it out.... I am not trying to start anything. I honestly didnt know much about it and always have the thinking to buy direct from the source thus bigger profit for a terrific and high quaility product and with me a loyal customer. I cant say anything good or bad about steam since i only recently heard of it.

Personally, I think Markus & co. have done it exactly right: offer OOTP on Steam, but with the guarantee that Steam will *not* be the exclusive distributor and *not* be required for install. I actually haven't installed OOTP14 through Steam, but I love having it in my Steam library and the option to install it there if I want. Everyone wins.

Since this will be my first OOTP game how does the Steam release work? If I buy/download the game from the website will I still be able to install it through Steam when it is released there?

I want to play it today but I don't want to be stuck out of a Steam copy so I might just wait a week or two. : \
