Injured players on Waivers/DFA snafu
Got a bit of a puzzler here - maybe someone can help?
I waived and DFA'd a player who was on the AAA DL off of my 40-man He cleared waivers and I left him in DFA limbo for the full 10 days. When it came time to move him out of limbo, I seem to be unable to make the moves to be able to move foward: - If I try to move him to a minor league roster, I get a "Player is injured, put him on the DL!" error. - If I move him to the DL, nothing happens (he doesn't actually go to the DL, even though I get asked if he should go on the 15 or 60 day DL - probably because he's not on the 40 man anymore). It looks like my only option is to release him - is this correct or am I missing something? thanks! OOTP 15 is seriously addictive. |

Work around:
Go into commissioner mode, either remove his injury, demote him and reinjure him or leave the injury and demote him from the Editor tab in the player profile.

Why not release him. DFA is just a 10 day window for players not wanted/needed.

or they were useful on the 40 man but a better 40 man option is in the organization.

Then you would put him on waivers and after he cleared, remove him from the 40-man.

I always do both at once. Probably not fully understanding all of the details of the DFA/Waiver rules.

Thanks all - I ended up putting him on the 60-Day DL (even though he only had a week left where he was injured), and then designated him for assignment when he was eligible to come off the DL.
I have been selecting "waive and designate for assignment" when I need to free up a 40-man slot - would it be smarter to just waive them, and then remove them from the 40-man once they clear waivers? When you waive a player, does it immediately free up a slot on the 40-man? Incidentally - at the beginning of my league's 2017 season, the AI decided that MLB changed rules and got rid of the idea of minor league options entirely. I thought that was pretty funny. |
