First Year Player Draft

I'm playing a historical league, starting in 1871. I have real historical rookies coming into the league each year. The Rule 4 Draft (First Year Player Draft) did not start in the MLB until 1965. How should I treat this? If I turn off the draft, will the real historical rookies still come into my league? Thanks.

To my knowledge, if you play with historical transactions the game shuts off such things as Rule 5 Draft. However, if you don't want historical transactions but do want historical rookies (draftable, tradeable, etc.), the game allows you to individually turn off certain options such as Rule 5 Draft. This does not affect historical rookies entering the league.

Thanks, what about the Rule 4 Draft (First Year Player Draft)?

Oh, my apologies. I thought you had mistyped. I just looked it up and yes, the amateur draft is officially known as the Rule 4 Draft.

Well, there I can be even more definite. Once you set the option to import historical rookies, you have an option to use the Rule 4 / Amateur Draft or not. If you don't, as you can see from these online manual screenshots, the rookies will be assigned to their historical teams. If you do use the draft, then the rookies will be in the game alright but any and all teams will be able to draft them.

It depends on what you want. If you are looking for absolutely historical rosters, by all means turn off the option. You should have it off anyway until 1965 and the rookies will appear on the correct teams until then.
