Question Those arrows...how important are they?

So I'm very new, and just learning how to manage a major league system. A player in my AA team has a big red down pointing arrow next him. I can't find an explanation for this in the manual. I'm guessing this my staff recommending a demotion. Is that true? I have it set to do the GM work and leave the coaching and managing to the AI. I do promote demotes.

Yep. Down arrow = suggested demotion. Up arrow (green) = suggested promotion based on their play.

I don't pay too much attention to the arrows. When they start showing up, I do check the production of the player, his scouting report, personality, and what players above or below him are doing in terms of production. If it makes sense to promote/demote, then I'll do it, but only if I think it's in the best interest of his development. Afterall, I'm not too worried about win/loss records in the minors. I'm concerned only that the player I choose to promote/demote will receive a development boost in the process.

Think of the arrows as suggestions from the staff.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

What is odd though, is that I have the staff in control of my minor league affiliates and still the arrows appear for weeks to months,
and the players are not moved up or down and I do not have controls on those players to lock players at that level.

More odd, is that I have traded or released players whom I assumed that were in the affiliate level above them, starting,
and thought their being there was blocking/preventing the AI from promoting the player...
and even after the removal of such players, the AI STILL does not promote them, but the green up arrow still remains.
