Help with awards bug

Just started a new game of OOTP 15.

I'm really disappointed in some of the inaccuracies of the game, though. The 2012 awards are completely blank in the History Index screen. Next to MVP and Cy Young, I just have () where the winner's name should be.

Also, I have the same problem for the 2013 Cy Young award, but MVP is filled in.

I read around and find there's no way to edit this info?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Yeah, I see what you mean. Well, the MLB Quickstart game was designed by a bunch of talented, but numerically- and time-limited, quasi-volunteers (if I have their status correct). They invite corrections in the "Post issues about the major league roster set here please!" thread in this forum. I would re-post this in there. Feel free to take my screen print with you:

But no, to answer your question, there isn't any way for you to edit this.

Thanks, Déjà Bru. That was exactly what I needed to know.

I didn't know there was a separate group working on that stuff. Those are major omissions, though, and I can't believe I'm the first person to discover this?

These are really important things for anyone running a long-term game. Surely you need accurate stats in a stats based game!?

Thanks,

You're not. There's actually another thread about it on this page right now. The awards page has been screwed up since OOTP14, at least. I think 13 may have had the same omissions, as well. I've seen it posted in the thread Bru has directed you toward. I've figured a fix is either low-priority or a pain in the butt. Like I said in the other thread: this alone is what keeps me from playing the MLB quickstart. With everything else so accurate, so close to perfect; this little error pushes me into the uncanny valley and I can't get out. I want to fix the Twins. Someone fix the awards screen, please, so I can fix the Twins.

This should've been fixed long ago, and it's sad that it wasn't.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Surely we can just edit a file somewhere? Everything else is editable in this game. This seems like a glaring omission and I'll be surprised if there's no way to edit it.

Agreed - this has been something that has bothered me for many versions (missing award info, missing champions, missing attendance data, etc...).

Just fired up v14 and see that attendance numbers are missing for all MLB teams for 2009 and 2010. Data is there for the years prior to and subsequent, but totally missing for two (2) full years. Have not looked to see if it has been fixed in v15. Maybe not as horrible as missing Award winners, but still very bothersome (at least to me).

The MLB quickstart developers are faced with the same roadblock as we are in this situation. I think basically what happened was, they started with an historical game just like we would, manually chose the award winners each season, and forgot to do so in those instances.

There's no way to go back and reward the winners retroactively. Plus, I get the impression that these are volunteers working by themselves in a group with Markus and crew gratefully receiving the benefits of their hard work (and perhaps bestowing free copies of the game in thanks).

So it's up to Markus to go into whatever .dat file those award winners are stored in and make the necessary corrections. It's worth his time and effort to do so because the MLB quickstart game is an integral part of the marketing of OOTPB.

I will go to the "Post issues about the major league roster set here please!" and post a link to this thread, as a reminder.

This is something I'd have to fix manually, and sadly always forgot. Sorry guys... eventually I'll come around to it.

Just curious if anything ever came from this?

I took the time to edit the awards html document in html/history but sadly when the game fires up it just writes over it.
