Game freezes while proceeding to next season

After simulating my first career league, I hit the proceed to next season button and it generated reports and then brought up the
Proceeding to next season window
The game froze and the only way to get out of it was to end task in Windows Manager. When I restarted the game I was in the month of January with no Draft, Free Agent Period, or Spring Training. I could only simulate through the days to the next season. I reset the league which allowed me to play 2004. I just finished 2004 and my game froze again in the exact same place.
My first question is - What is causing this and how can I prevent it?
My second question is - What options do I have for starting 2005? Do I have to reset the league again or is there a way to go back? My last game save was right before I hit the Proceed to Next Season button.

My Computer Specs are -
Windows XP
1.97 GB free space
533 MHz AMD k6 3d processor
248 MB Ram
DirectX 9
TotalMinors ODay 4/29 rosters

Any more info you may need, please let me know.

Thanks

-Don't trust the windows "not responding" message.
-How long did you wait?

I don't have an exact time, but I would estimate between 5-10 minutes.

So, is my problem the fact that I need to wait longer than 5-10 minutes or do you believe it is something else?

Also, is there anyway that you know of for me to have the amateur draft, free agent signing period, spring training since it locked up and I had to shut it down while it was procedding to the next season?

thanks

Try just resetting your season. That's worked for a couple people in the past.

EDIT - I'd give it more than 5, but 10 minutes should be enough time with your system unless you have a really huge league, but even then, 10 minutes should be enough. So, I don't think you need to wait longer. I'd give it 15 at most, but if it still hasn't proceeded to next season, it isn't because you aren't waiting long enough.
