And we shall, before long. In reality I had to spend a fair amount of time preparing my SABR article, presentation and meeting, but all that has concluded and I should be able to devote some time to the League, although it will be at least a week and up to two before anything posts, because there is some transitional groundwork that needs to be handled before we move on post-war.

Baseball League Honours Its War Dead.

As with other sports, not to mention other fields of endeavour, the baseballers who served King and Country bravely on the fields, forests, valleys, towns, and cities of Europe suffered their fair share of casualties in the fight against the Hun. There were, by the League’s count, ninety five registered players from the League’s first and second divisions who gave their lives for the cause of freedom for all peoples during the period of 1914 through this year :—

Man. RIP, all those who died and lost their chance at a career, even if Frederic Finn was the only name I recognized.

These posts also made me realize how many people were actually just scraping along in the League, often without a club. If those mentioned that died or were injured are just, like, 5% of the league, then there's a lot more people than I realized.
