Improve the Game Logs by Recording What Happens on the Field

Look at these snippets from an OOTP 15 game log:

These are not consecutive plays but they are both from the same game.

Question: What fielders were involved in these plays?

Which outfielder made the throw that nailed Mueller at the plate? Did an infielder intercept the throw to complete the play?

What fielders were involved in the rundown that retired Smith? Was he tagged out or was he called out for leaving the baseline?

There is no way to tell from the game log because OOTP will not record this information on a wide variety of plays.

The play that retired Mueller was scored 8-2, with no cutoff throw.

The rundown was scored 8-5-4-6. Smith was called out for leaving the baseline. Even that piece of information is not recorded.

Both of these play results (and many other similar examples) should be recorded in the game log. It would be nice if version 16 records the actual scored play for each ball put in play, instead of just giving a vague description of what happened. Frankly, it's disappointing to see something like this 15 versions into an otherwise truly great baseball simulation.

I'd like to see more detail in the logs but at the same time game files already get huge quickly. Adding that much more information to the files will make them exorbitantly large even faster than they do now.

No, not what I'm talking about, which is just the score of the play. But OOTP could offer the option of storing plain text box scores and game logs, which would considerably reduce the disk space requirements.

I'd like to see that log used in the real-time gamecast.
