GM's maximum age

When can i die?
I feel so tired because it's so hard to win playoffs.

you can't die... you're immortal. (you can retire, though)

It's the sequel to Highlander - it's called OOTPLander - eternity is yours.

At 136 I'm still going strong. Apparently some players don't like my appearance though. Some have reported dreams where this cackling voice says, "If you don't get the runner over you might end up in the swamp". I've invited players to my Motel in the offseason but no one ever shows up.

Players and coaches never die.

It's totally dumb and unrealistic. A game that prides itself on realism cant' get this most-basic thing right. Too many whiners around here I guess. When I play Crusader Kings, trust me, I don't break down and start crying when my king dies. I don't get depressed and want to commit suicide over guilt when I play a shooter and kill digital representations of life forms.

We've been told that realism doesn't matter because somebody's ***** hurts.

Huh?

Wasn't expecting that. I've never opposed anything that allows for manager deaths. I hope you agree that If I want it my way It should be ok.

Not you. I'm talking to the whiners who would rather sacrifice realism so that they can pretend to live in Marshmallow Land. I detest that players live 180 years. So many basic things wrong with this great game.

At least we have 3-D.

I doubt it's because people will get hurt. More likely it's because the death of a coach/player really has zero affect on the game. It may even be a coding issue (has Markus ever given a reason?). Again, I could care less either way if my coach/player dies, but I don't think whiners wanting them to live has anything to do with it.

I don't think the game should have arbitrary death of the player/GM. I think the player should choose the timing of his own resignation/retirement/death.

The realism is on you... the player. If you think it is realistic to keep working at age 136, go for it. Personally, I would have created a new GM in the game and succeeded myself long before that.

Edit: Not picking on you, Rich. Just using you as an example of an unrealistic age.

Every time you mention Crusader Kings it makes me want to fire it up and get into some treachery!

it's the fun of the game!! The idea that can make decisions without any regard for the future!

EDIT: but it's also why the game needs to be very challenging!

Side note: Do you just change your GM profile by altering the details or is there actually a button for that?

Maybe so but aren't Hall of Fame pictures frozen at retirement? Wouldn't the same type of coding handle player deaths the same way?

That would be fine by me but it would be a lot of work. I'd rather it was coded. I don't even need a news article although that would be bonus.

As a fellow Crusader Kings II player I must agree with you. But then sometimes I kill the King myself.

I try not to kill the king because I like to role play a lunatic king. But I have been known to put the weaker older son at the head of a vastly outnumbered army...just in case.

Back to topic...I apologize for the strong language earlier but this is one of my biggies. Breaking a coaching record in wins is a nice goal to shoot for but is rendered pointless by infinite life.

I agree, there should be death. It can be optional if people are really against it.
