And This Has Me Stumped
This IS Vicente Romo, of the Indians and Padres and others and a reappearance at age 40 out of the Mexican League with the Dodgers in 1982, right?
This isn't his brother Enrique of the Mariners and Pirates, right? So what's he doing with the Angels? I can find no record of a conditional visit to spring training (he'd had one of those with the Cards in 1981), nothing about him ever being with them. Same goes for his brother! Anybody know? |

Ok, solved
Courtesy Bill Francis at the HOF. This is from the Angels' 1984 media guide - Romo was a non-roster invitee at age 41 (at least)

One More Toughie From Topps
Al Cowens, during his unexpectedly brief time with the Angels in 1980 (traded to the Tigers on May 27th after just 34 games).

1978 Dodgers
Need a few images of 1978 Dodgers:
Joe Simpson (have B&W - need color) Gerry Hannahs (have the recent Topps Vault image - trying to get without the watermark) Myron White Brad Gulden Enzo Hernandez - I found this image on a Mexican auction site - if anyone has a larger and clearer scan (or a better image altogether) , that would be great! |

Enzo Hernandez
This is the original. From the Dodgers' "Photo Album" and just a horrific print of a badly-shadowed shot.
There are Topps Vault images of Simpson earlier on this site, the Hannahs you know about. There is no indication that there are any color shots of Gulden or White extant. |

I have available literally hundreds of alternatives to the images in the recently released facepack. In the main, but by no means always, these reflect my admiration to the skills of the many colorization wizards whose work benefits immensely those who visit this site. As an example I have posted my alternatives for those players who debuted in 1946. If there is a demand I will be more than willing to post alternatives for every other year.
On the left I post the current facepack image and the right an alternate image. Last edited by UKBaseballfan; 07-03-2019 at 04:57 AM. |
