Alternate currencies
As stated in OOTP 16 "press release" at their "minor novelties" chapter:
Alternate currencies (Euro, Pounds Sterling, Yen, etc.) Can we able to create additional currencies? (as the defunct Spanish pesetas, Italian lire, French francs and any real-life currency, past and present). Can we edit the exchange rates as is/was in real life?

No additional currencies, sorry.
Exchange rates are not needed, when you select an alternate currency it replaces $$ everywhere in the game. |

Exchange rates would be cool for universes with leagues in multiple countries, but actually implementing them would be far more effort than it's worth lol.

Keep in mind that if exchange rates were to be implemented, the league nation would dictate what currency players would be paid in. So everyone in MLB/MiLB would be paid in USD even if they were on a Canadian team.

Yeah, I was assuming it would be based on the league nation anyway. I was thinking more of if you had MLB and *** in the same universe that the *** players would be paid in yen and the MLB ones in dollars.

Having alternate currencies is a cool option, but all those different currencies confuse me. I think I'm like most Americans. When I hear a British person say "Oi, that'll be fifty pounds, luv." I think to myself, "Gee, that's heavy".

Which is how it works now. The USD is over 1.20 CAD again. The Blue Jays are hurting because a chunk of their revenue comes in CAD but all of their spending is in USD. MLB paid the Jays several millions per year in the 2002-2008 seasons to mitigate severe currency exchange issues.

So...changing from dollars to yen would just make a $20,000,000 contract into a ¥20,000,000 contract? Or does it recalculate based on some fixed exchange rate?

Probably works like you said. Simplest implementation.

Which is good because I remember when I first started working in international finance, I had to convert dollars into lira for our Italian subsidiary and there weren't enough digits on my HP calculator to show a complete answer.
