Group shots are just as bad as personal shots. Hiding behind flowery terms like "it's your game, play it your way" is just a cover for the insult soon to follow......Vanilla Baseball ring a bell. Like I said above it's the responder that gets flagged, because responding looks personal. It's only personal, because it's not fun being told your opinion means nothing.

I use DH. The AI is not good enough at managing the double switch and pinch hitters. Gives me a big advantage.

Oh, the heck with it. Continue your reign of insults. It's just proof that you lost the argument.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I like my OOTP how I like my National League. NO DH! It's so much more strategic and entertaining to watch, so many more reasons to take out pitchers than just "he's tired/not doing well".

Baseball player should mean a guy who can play a position, if you can't or don't you should only be a backup or a pinch hitter. A guy who hits in the heart of the order and doesn't take the field? Not for me.

Pretty meaningless life if one has to crow about winning an internet forum argument. Enjoy.

Interesting articles. I wonder whether the OOTP 16 AI will be aware of the fact that the one-man DH is about as obsolete as the four-man pitching rotation.

What I don't understand about this forum is that a few people constantly feel the need to tell others how they should play the game and that they should play it how they themselves choose to play. Almost as if the way they play is the correct way and the ONLY way.

Maybe these increasingly predictable arguments wouldn't happen if people just realized that there are going to be differing opinions about rules and gameplay choices.

Play how you want to play, and respect that others may not agree with every aspect of the way YOU play, but it's how they like it. Is there really anything wrong with that?

Can't we all just get along? Seriously. We all love baseball and OOTP. We should all be friends. Enough with the bickering.

100% agree with your post. I would add only that this doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't have spirited debates about controversial baseball issues such as the DH at all. I just think the debate needs to focus strictly on the points being made, and not on the people making them, because if someone feels the need to cast aspersions on the other guy in order to win (or to to appear to win) his argument, that means he is not confident that his argument is strong enough to win on its own merits. IOW, the first person to go ad hominem loses.

Now I would be tempted to jump onto a game where animals play ball. Imagine a fearsome middle of the order made up of cats Muffin, Fluffy, and Sir Eats-A-Lot.

Problem is, being cats, they sleep through the middle innings.....

I'm betting even asleep they would be better defensively than a Dave Dombrowski put together squad.

I bought one of the very first version of Baseball Mogul, after simulating a few years it started to introduce dogs and cats as players. Never bought it again. True story!

Did it have dolphins as well or is that just a strange dream I had?

Has anybody else here read Walter R. Brooks's Freddy and the Baseball Team from Mars? Not only animal players, but six-limbed Martians, too!
