Barr Photos

Thanks for the photos of Jim Barr and the comments guys! Let me ask you guys something...then I assume there wasn't anything like centerfield stands in centerfield then??? If you guys have any others with Barr, please place them in as far as Topps Vault and "equals".

Thanks again!

In case there is still interest in knowing what Jamie Werly looks like, I've posted an image of Werly on the minor league thread at the following page:

Wasn't somebody just asking about him? Brief Giants' outfielder and father of Peter. There he is in today's upload from Topps:

Nothing rare about this photo - just that it's from what might be the best single shoot the Topps NY photographers ever had. The old Senators at Yankee Stadium, April or May 1971. All of them gleam like this.

Steve Bowling - 1977 Blue Jays

Short of him using someone else's bat, I have this as OF Steve Bowling. (yes!)

He of the 236 PAs and .206 average for the expansion Jays. Please confirm otherwise...

Thanks for the Chris Bourjos post. I was looking for him and a number of 1980 era hard to find photos..

BTW, I agree with you regarding that 1971 Topps shoot at YS. They must have shot it using a large negative portrait camera or Kodachrome 25, which I used to use for portraits with controlled lighting. That one looks like it had an off camera strobe based on the angle of the shadow and the glistening off the top of the dugout. Some of those Topps shots were amazing. Cardboard just didn't do them justice.

In the bright blues of the '72 Braves from another fun Topps Vault upload (my apologies for the separate posts - my phone only lets me do one image at a time)

Jim Breazeale - White Sox 1978

At Comiskey, no less. Wasn't there long, and these two are 4000% better than the washed out one of my own taking I posted some time ago.

Trying to figure out if we posted simultaneously or what. Never saw the Hobbsian posts of the same images. My apologies.

Breazeale again

And a batting pose, also 1978 - but at spring training in Sarasota

Breazeale again…and again, and again.

Well, on the "better is better" theory, I think Jim looks better in good lighting, with skies that are blue instead of purple and with a less-heavily-red skin tone. Thus…

Yeah but three Breazeales does not trump a Pete Broberg as a Cub which is what I was hoping was actually in the most recent Topps Vault 'deck'.....

I've never seen one of these before. The Angels/White Sox/Giants pitcher showing up - presumably in spring training of 1977 - in an Oakland A's uniform. Not particularly useful, just fun.
