The Best Game Ever

Hey folks,

To the men and women who put this game together, a heartfelt thanks and gratitude to each and every one of you. I've been playing since, aw shucks, I don't know when. It seems like it was yesterday. But I tell you what, I'm really looking forward to playing the new season next weekend. The fact that it's now licensed with MLB is only going to make it that much better.

OOTP comes JUST behind MVP Baseball 2005 for me in best baseball games ever. The fact that OOTP nearly beat MVP Baseball 2005 shows how amazing OOTP is.

Good job team! And don't be discouraged, no game can or will beat MVP Baseball 2005.

OOTP is hands down the best by far and away. I am never left bored and continuously challenged and at times frustrated as well as elated when winning the World Series. I have never found another Baseball game on any system including PC to even come close to keeping my attention. Markus demands excellence in his game and it shows. He has obviously found the right people who want excellence as well. My thanks goes out to the team of excellence in keeping a quality product affordable and fun at pretending to be owner/GM/manager of a team.

I think that's nostalgia talking there!

In my mind, OOTP is in a league of it's own.

For the life of me I can't remember this game. Yet there it sits in my CD rack surrounded by High Heat 2003 and High Heat 2004. After they ruined HH with the 2004 (made for console) version I must have bought MVP 2005 thinking it may have been a suitable replacement for HH. Did you have to actively participate as a player in MVP 2005?
I turned to Baseball Mogul, as I was unaware of OOTP. Finally found OOTP9 and continued on with 10, 11 and 12, never to return to BM. Occasionally check to see if BM has evolved, but...

Could you please add a warning to your post. I wouldn't want anyone else to have an accident when they click on that link.

Cheers dude!

High Heat 2001 was so great. Then they kept changing everything every season.

MVP Baseball. A good game. Until I found OOTP then it got thrown on the pile with the rest of the arcade crap.

Note to self: Princess Kenny was really off-putting.

Actually I had a job offer from 3DO in 2002. The wanted me to move to SF and work on the HH series... I declined. HH was dead a couple of years later. I am doing fine. One decision in life which I don't regret

Wow, really? I loved HH 2001. It certainly turned out to be a great decision

Talking of HH2001, it would be fantastic if OOTP gets to the stage of being able to play out your games (by that I mean watch and manage as now) in a similar fashion to how you could on HH. I'll happily admit I bought HH as being able to play 'arcarde' baseball but quickly got into managing the team instead and watching and managing the game.

After that, a holiday in the US, a NY Mets game and finding a retail version of season ticket baseball 3 in a store and that was that. I was blown away by that and to say it has progressed somewhat would be a massive understatement

So, yes a fantastic decision Markus

Don't want no repetitive close up views. Don't want no repetitive announcers. That blimp view however...

I'm with you there, that was the one for me too, an excellent view. Agree re announcer as well, the current text is just fine.

The way that I see it is that games like High Heat and MVP Baseball are for casual fans while OOTP is for die-hard baseball fans. It's almost like the arcade games are "Guitar Hero" and OOTP is an actual guitar. One is for fun while the other is the real deal.

Shoot, I remember playing Triple Play Baseball on the Sony Playstation back in the day and I wish that I had a dime every time that Buck Martinez commented about the "can of corns" play. I'd probably have enough money to buy my own major-league team.
