What setup should I use?

I know I will be firing up a new random debut league Friday, but I'm having trouble deciding on a setup. Figure to go with one of 3 setups, but I'm having trouble deciding.

#1 16 teams, 2 subleagues of 8 with with a 154 game schedule. Basically the setup used by baseball for so many years.

#2 18 teams. 1 subleague with 3 6 team divisions. 132 game schedule. 12 games against each division foe and 6 against each team outside the division. Division winners make the post season. Top team gets a bye in the first round.

#3 12 teams. 1 subleague, no divisions, no playoffs. 154 game round robin schedule with the the team that finishes with the best record being crowned champion.

The 16 team format is in the lead right now. Mainly because I want to see how the new All Star game features being introduced this version work. But, other than that, I've always been partial to 1 subleague setups.

I like the 18 team setup due to the shorter schedule. Since I'm thinking about using free agency over the reserve clause, 18 teams will probably work better than 12. Biggest drawback ---this is the one setup that leaves the least room for expansion in the future.

The 12 team format will clearly be the best for getting to know my league and will be easy to expand. Drawback--small leagues and free agency sometimes drive me nuts due to guys playing for too many teams over their careers. .

I'm presently playing the CBL - 12 teams 3 divisions, top team in each division + 1 wild card team for playoffs. 84 game schedule.

Play all my games one pitch mode. Only do player substitution during the game, AI handles the rest during the games. Do all the GM stuff for my team. Loads of fun.
