GM goal: Extend Player ____

I love these new goals but I'm left scratching my head a bit.

The owner of the Twins asked me to re-sign a fellow named Blaine Boyer....a half star pitcher that should be in AA but starts off in the Twins' bullpen. I try an extend him for bleeps and giggles...he wants OVER $1,000,000!!!

2 weeks into the season, he has an ERA above 11. I DFA and run him through waivers....he clears....I go to demote him to AA as I traded for a new reliever with 4.5 stars (Kelvin Herrera). He refuses to be demoted so I take the $333,187 hit and release him as nobody would trade for him.

So obviously I fail this goal for 2016. I finish the season and the new set of owner goals for 2016 says "Sign Blaine Boyer to an extension."

1. Why is the owner so in love with someone who should be in AA ball at best and would be making a lot of money for someone with ratings in the 40's?

and most importantly...

2. How am I suppose to extend a player who's no longer on my team and doesn't want to negotiate a contract?

Why isn't the owner telling me to extend Torii Hunter? An extremely popular player and leader?

While it probably means nothing in the goals, it's extremely unrealistic...

Think it may need a bit more tweaking...

There is minimum criteria. But all I can say is that sometimes owners have weird preferences...

Maybe Blaine Boyer has some dirt on the owner. ��

I believe #1 is intentional. Some of the more meddling owners have random favorites.

#2 sounds like a bug.

And yes, he should not give you the goal if the player is not on the team. Please post a quick note in the bug report thread and I will have a look at that.
