Hey all. So I'm trying to set up my wacky little fictional universe as I would like. One thing I like to do is start it up and sim out like 40 years of league history and then create me and some friends as draft prospects out of high school and sim their careers before I take over as a GM. I'm hoping somebody can help me diagnose what I might need to change in my league settings because my created players are not getting ANY playing time in the minors despite being top prospects. I haven't seen this behavior before in the other versions of the games I did this with.
Here's the situation: I've noticed in the two times I've tried to do this thus far (with slightly different fictional league variations) that my guy gets drafted as the #1 overall pick at 18 years old in June. Then, both times, he gets called up to the majors in September without any other playing time. Then, the next year, he goes into the lowest level of the minors (Rookie League one time and Single A in my second run). But, in the lowest levels of the minors, he doesn't get put into any games but gets moved up slowly through the minors maybe getting one or two plate appearances at each level. He'll even get named the top prospect in the league but not get any playing time at any level before he gets called up to the majors eventually. But his skills have started to erode a bit by that time (presumably because of being in the minors for two years without playing). What might be happening here? The fact that it has happened twice in two different fictional league setups concerns me and makes me wonder what settings I might need to change in my fictional league to ensure that prospects are actually getting playing time to develop. Any ideas, folks? Last edited by luger; 03-24-2015 at 01:12 PM. |

On the player profile page, there is an option for game strategy. Here, you can force start him where you wish and also force hold him at any level. Get him plenty of playing time at the level he's best suited for and he should start to develop.

One thing to check (since it is a custom league): Are you sure the minor leagues are playing proper schedules?
