I guess I am in win now mode - In April

So, I started as the GM of the Cardinals. Peter Bourjos is on the team but Matheny was not starting him or even using him as number 2 on the depth chart so I thought "Wonder what I could get shopping him around"

Well, apparently the Cubs are no actually interested in winning because they offered me a straight up trade for Jon Lester. I decided to go for it. I mean a Lester/Wainwright one-two punch would be awesome.

I go through a month of the season and we are in first place so I decide to see what it will take to extend Jason Heyward. Well, he wants to be the best paid player on the team, asking 22 million a year over 7 years with a player option for 8 years.

I can't actually afford that since I am now carrying Lester's salary. Oops.

I gotta learn to look ahead at the impact of my moves.
