Why put Can-Am and American Association in the same "league"

Out of curiosity what was the reason for putting the Can-Am League and the American Association in the same league as two sub leagues?

Because it's the only way I could include the Interleague games they play in the schedule and keep things as accurate as possible within ootp's limits.
