How are the All-Star selections?

In previous versions I've done manual selections of All-Stars, because I didn't trust the AI. This year though, it looks like the "voting" is on point. I also love that popularity is taken into account (if it works correctly). Have the All-star teams been on point so far?

Some issues though: pitchers are "voted on" even though they're all selected manually IRL.

Also, how does "my ballot" work? Is it literally just 1 vote in 10 million? Or do I have a "super ballot"?

My limited experience indicates that we have a super ballot. It would be nice to see the forced player from each team, which doesn't apparantly get taken into consideration.

Not enough middle IF and with injuries some teams only had 1 C. This might have been fixed in the 1st patch.

Your ballot is worth more than 1 vote, but it's not going to get a scrub elected over a star player My biggest problem, even though I wrote the system myself, is that I don't want to vote and "spoil" the results - I love to vote, but kind of want to see what the AI voting ends up looking like.

I know you don't vote for pitchers in real life, but I thought if i was adding voting, some people would like to vote for them anyways. You can always simply not vote for any if you don't want to. Pretty sure the guys who win the voting there would make teams anyways.

I'll likely add the option to force one player per team in a patch this summer sometime. It shouldn't be too hard to add

I'm new to the game, does it show the number of votes somewhere? I want to let the computer choose the teams, so I do nothing right? I figured out the players on the MANUAL ALL-STAR SELECTION are the ones the computer would put in the game if the voting ended "today"...yes?

Thanks,

JM

Is that the same for HOF voting? Have you considered maybe making an option where your vote truly only counts for 1 vote? Not sure if this is something that would be easy, but I've also thought it might be cool if you got an e-mail along with the naming of All-Stars reminding you who you voted for and comparing them (maybe by bolding the actual winners) to the actual results.

If you disable the AI portion of the voting for either, then your vote counts for 100%

I always felt the AI was good at mimicking real life, with several snubs.

That said, the new feature is nice, though I don't necessarily need the weekly updates. Is there a way to turn those off?

Yeah, but I'm talking about another option where your vote literally counts for just a single ballot (in other words, so you can participate in voting without really having any strong impact on the ultimate results.)

Yes please. We were 1 GB at the break and did not have a single player make the team. Plenty of guys who should have atleast been reserves. I looked at the roster atleast 10 times thinking I must have missed our mandatory 1 player at least!

One gripe about the All-Star voting for pitchers - you're only able to select the ace starter and closer for each team - and in the voting results, one player often appears 3 times in the top 5 with different totals.

Example:

This was fixed a couple patches back (at least for me) do you have the latest patch?

Have you patched your game? I'm pretty sure that was a bug fixed in the first patch.

Oops. See Sodo beat me to it.

Given how much people like it, I imagine for next year we can think about having similar voting for the end of season awards.

And yes, the triplicate players was fixed, however if you recently patched and were past the all-star ballots opening date, you won't see it until next year.

I think this is why. Glad to see it'll be fixed for my next season!

How are the ballots chosen? In an online league I'm noticing that some bad/ineligible players (MRs with no GS making the SP ballot, etc.) are appearing on the ballot over more qualified players. Perhaps you could choose from a pool of all players and use filters/sorting to find who you want. No reason, necessarily for there to be a pre-selected ballot.

Issue i just recognized. Xander Bogearts is listed as the Boston shortstop. He's in the lineup as the shortstop. He's played 617.2 innings at shortstop. He has played 1 game at 3rd base for 4 innings. But in the All star voting, he's listed under 3rd base. Jeff Bianchi is listed as the All star eligible Boston shortstop. He has 6 at bats this year and is currently in Pawtucket.

They're currently based on the positions players are set to. So if Bogaerts is listed as a 3B, he would show up on the ballot at 3B.

In the future we may change it to better place guys at the positions they've played, but currently it works fairly well most of the time.
