Teams moving issue

In 2018 in my game, the game decided to expand to Austin and Memphis. It named the new teams the Austin Oceanics and the Memphis Gold Miners. I like these little surprises, which is why I have evolution turned on; however, those names are dumb, so I changed them to Austin Wranglers and Memphis Jazzmen. There is no ocean in Austin and, as far as I know, gold mining is not associated with Memphis. So far so good.

Now, I'm in 2023, and Memphis has decided to move to El Paso and become the Princes because of low attendance. That's fine. I even like the alliteration of El Paso Princes. I had no problem with any of this to that point.

However, the problem that I have is how players statistics are now reflected. When I click the names of former Memphis players, their past seasons show that they played for El Paso! That team didn't even exist until today! How annoying! Has anyone figured out a way to get the game to not do this?
