Question about historical rookies in draft with random debut
I'm using the development engine and I have it set to the option where their potential is based on the rest of their career. I know they come into the draft at the age they first appeared in the Majors. I do have a few issues I was wondering about though.
One being that I'm seeing the AI value relief pitching almost too highly in the rookie drafts. In one, Vladimir Guerrero fell all the way to the 3rd round while probably 10 or so relievers with a stamina rating of 2 went in the first two rounds. Have you guys noticed this as well? Also, since I have potential based on the remaining years of their career, I was very surprised to see Adrian Gonzalez come into the rookie draft with a potential rating of only 3 stars and fall all the way to the middle of the 4th round. Two months after the draft and he's already down to 2 stars and is on the Yankees reserve roster. Shouldn't Adrian come into the draft rated much higher considering he's coming in as a rookie and has had a pretty successful career statistics-wise.? This is my first real attempt at a random debut, so I was just wondering if these sort of things are normal or is something could possibly be off with my settings. Could it be because I have the development engine turned on? I wasn't sure if that takes affect as soon as a player is introduced into the database and not even drafted yet. Because like I said, even his pre-draft ratings weren't very good. Gonzalez played 3 games all season and here are his ratings now.

Relief pitchers do tend to be rated too high, in my opinion. Do you have scouting turned on to 100%?

Dont know what to tell ya. A Gon seems like he should be rated higher but he did have a few bad years.
