On the DH and OOTP.

The game doesn't model the DH well. Instead of using a defensive liability who can hit at the position, OOTP just uses "a hitter" in the DH role, so it means you often see DHs hitting 6-9th in the AL lineup and that doesn't make a whole lot of sense without injuries given how the role has been used in modern times.

It's fine in an online league where everyone will act intelligently about it, but when you rely on the AI, it doesn't work as well and so, while I like the rule in real life, I finally nuked it from my MLB save because it's not modeled right.

I disagree. In my EBL league only which has 28 teams and DH in both leagues, with the exception of my team and 2 others everyone else has a DH who either can no longer field or is poorer then the starter that he plays the same position of. Only 2 teams have a DH who is a good fielder, although neither has a GG. one is a CF with a range of 6. The starting CF is also a 6 although he is better offensively. The other is a 3B, although neither the starter nor the DH are all that good.
I could post more examples if you want. Neither player sis edited except for name/fg.

I agree the game does not handle DH well for me it's not the batting line-up issue is that the AI won't sign players that are just DH. With drafts there's an occasional player that's only listed as DH I have like 6 accumulated in the free-agent pool they have never been signed And some of them are 3-3 1/2 star quality guys but no one gets them

They wont play DH only players either. Since my league is historical fictional or fictional-historical, whichever way is right, I have switched several players over to DH a few seasons back and none of them started, despite the fact that 2 of them were on track to be HOFers. When I moved them to a position, they were played as a DH and resumed their track to the HOF.
