Re-issue activation code or buy again?

After 22 seasons in my game world and just nearing the playoffs, my trusted laptop met it's maker and ended up falling off the balcony at my place last weekend during a bachelor party. Yup...

I got my shiny new HP from UPS today. Now the real question...

Can I get another activation code sent to me beings I can't find the original e-mail it came in or do I have to buy OOTP 16 again for my new CPU?

Call/contact the company (can't remember their name ATM my old brain is fuzzy tonight) that does the activation codes. They have good customer service. They can reset it for you.

I'm going to guess it's plastered in the e-mail we got sent during release day.

Got the activation code that I originally got with the game via that website, went to put it in and got this in return:

ACTIVATION ERROR

eWeb_ActivateSerielNumber Returned 0xE0A00001
(ACTIVATION_UNEXPECTED_FAILURE)

That's an unusual message. From time to time the servers associated with activation are busy. Did you try several times and get the same message?

Let's play 20 questions or less. Some may appear dumb but... ...

Each license code can be used for 2 installs. By any chance did you use both? If so, someone at OOTPD will have to reset your key.

Does your key code look like OOTP16-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX?

Are you connected to the internet? Some AV programs block key activity so you may have to turn off AV temporarily.

Check for an inadvertent space on the leading and trailing side of the key code. This drove me crazy one year.

That's all I can think of right now.

2. Code looks perfect. I copy/pasted it and entered it by hand around 10 times

3. Connected to the net. Tried 2-3 times w/o firewall

4. Checked for spaces. None there

All in all, I've tried my original code probably around 20 times with the same message haunting me.

Going to try e-mailing support. If not, I'll spring $40 for another copy.

Don't buy another. This can be fixed. Put a ticket in here and hopefully they will reset your license.

I just recently have had the same issue. I put in a support ticket and was told that I can use the license, just follow steps 3 thru 7 on the attachment they sent and it should work. Well, after almost a full day of trying periodically, still unable to activate the game. Another support ticket going in I guess. Either that or hopefully someone on the dev team will see this post and try to come up with a reason it is not wanting to work.

I will reiterate what others have said - there is NO reason to re-purchase the game, unless you're just particularly anxious to support Marcus & crew. This should totally be fixable.

eSellerate is the name of the company that handles the licensing BTW. But I agree with entering a support ticket.

Usually, if you have burned through your two licenses, the error message is different. So, this sounds more like a problem with the connection between your computer and the eSellerate service to me, so I agree I would be looking at firewalls, antivirus, proxy servers, that sort of thing. (This also leads me to believe that even if you buy another copy, you're going to run into the same issue with THAT license.)
