Question About Team Locations and Names (or lack thereof)

Are there any detrimental effects of leaving a team's location or nickname blank? For example, if you just want to use city names and call your teams Boston, Philadelphia, etc., will news articles all read "Boston Defeats Philadelphia"? Or will they sometimes try to fill in the blank nickname, so that you just get "Defeats"?

It might happen when it needs a nickname, but I haven't really noticed it in my leagues where there are no nicknames.

I assume it just leaves the field empty like it does when you leave the division line blank for a single-division league. Annoying but nonsubstantial.
