Templates/Spreadsheets For Roster Management?
I have noticed on more than a few occasions mention of using some type of spreadsheet to track the roster, make decisions, etc. I am getting to that point where I think this would be really helpful...plus giving me something offline when I am not able to play the game.
Do any templates or specific spreadsheets exist that you utilize or have created? Thanks as always with all of my questions. |

I have one with pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders each on their own tab. I have planned position, current ratings, and potential ratings for each player in the org, along with a personal "overall" rating I made up for myself based off the individual ratings (largely because I often can't make heads or tails of OOTP's overall ratings.

I suppose I could do that. It's attached here. The fields that end in "p" are potentials, everything else is currents. Pitching is straightforward, just a straight average of the 3 pitching ratings (I have stamina and groundball rating there for reference only). Hitters are more complicated. The overall is 4 parts hitting (straight average again), 2 parts defense, and 1 part baserunning (straight average). That's the formula that made the most sense to me when I developed it, and it's worked well enough.
The defensive component includes both fielding ratings and position rating, so that for any two players with the same defensive rating, the one with better overall tools gets a higher rating. In my experience, anybody over around 40 for potential (1-100 scale, though 45 works for 20-80) can be reasonably expected to be a useful MLB player. |

Glad to help. You can make the updating easier if you change the single name field to one each for first and last name. That way you can sort by last name the way the game does when you view all players in org by position. The way I have it, it's not so simple. I just haven't changed it for myself yet.
