Player of the Week

Just curious, if you were to manually pick the POW each week, what stat or stats would you base it off of for both hitters and pitchers?

Secondly, how would you compare pitchers to hitters?

Player A: Pitcher who was 2-0, throwing 16.2 shutout innings with 1 walk and 14 strikeouts.

Player B: Hitter who was 12-23 (.522) with 3 home runs, 6 RBI, 9 runs scored and 9 walks.

Player C: Hitter who was 11-25 (.440) with 4 home runs, 8 RBI, 6 runs scored and 3 walks.

WAR appears to not compute on a weekly basis for hitters. Just wondering what formula or how other means people would take to figure it out.

Player B, since he got on base in nearly 2/3 of his plate appearances. Player A is a close second, though.

See that was my problem, Player C is the one that actually got the award. I was just wondering if anyone knows what formula the game uses as criteria for the award.

And if you could have a vote in baseball today for POW, what would your criteria / formula be?

For me AVG, HR, K's SH + CG. Player C won probably for the extra HR + RBI.

Interesting that nobody has even made a mention of player A. At best a starting pitcher will only get two starts in a week and this guy performed at or above 80% perfection It would be interesting to know how many hits and runs he gave up
