Basebrawl in Boston
Sunday, April 28th
Boston I saw this brawl on the out-of-town scoring updates during the game I was playing. After the game both players were ejected for 2 games. So as the Commish I decided to do a little investigating to see if a little role-playing was in order. It turns out that there were some hostilities brewing during the entire weekend series. This situation was ripe for God-mode intervention. On Friday night, with his team down 7-1, RF Robert Morales of the Baltimore Barons (12-13) drilled a line-drive down the line in left field that barely cleared the wall and that barely stayed fair. At the time, the Boston (10-14) players on the field were upset that he was slow to get out of the box and took his time getting around the bases. It really bothered them that he ignored their jawing at him when he blew a kiss to heaven as he crossed home plate. Baltimore added 2 more 2-run HR's in the inning to make the game a nail-biting 7-6 thriller. Later in the bottom of the 7th inning, Boston 1B Tom Tenuta launched a moonshot to deep right field for an 8-6 lead. He stood in the box and admired his shot then sarcastically blew kisses to the home town fans as he rounded the bases. Boston added 3 more runs in the 8th inning for a 11-6 victory during the slugfest. After the game budding superstar and team leader 3B Malik Nathan of the Baltimore Orioles was the most vocal about Tenuta's escapades rounding the bases calling it "bush league". Fast forward to Saturday afternoon. In the top of the 2nd inning Malik Nathan was drilled on the first pitch of the inning: Fast forward to the 5th inning. With Boston leading 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th inning Boston CF Scotty Knight was hit by a pitch while showing a bunt. It was obviously not intentional. But he took exception pointed his finger to the mound as he limped down to 1st base. Both teams were warned and the rest of the game was quiet as Boston won 4-0. Then came Sunday.

After Saturday's game Baltimore's RF Robert Morales was vocal. This time he talked about how Boston CF Scotty Knight "needs to grow-up and play baseball. Ain't nobody hitting nobody on purpose in that situation."
Robert Morales was drilled in the first inning...again. Both teams were warned. Fast forward to the 9th inning. With Baltimore commanding the game 8-0 they added 3 on a 3-run blast to deep right by 1B Oscar Valdez. He didn't do anything of special note while rounding the bases but like his teammate Friday night he blew a kiss to heaven while crossing home plate. His teammates in the dug-out were laughing and backslapping the whole time. In the bottom of the 9th Boston got a solo HR and a 2-run HR to make the game 11-3. Then J.R. Tatman came to the plate. Remember him from Friday night with the sarcastic jaunt around the bases? He was drilled on the first pitch. Benches clear. Brawl was on.

So, as the commish, I thought the 2-game suspension for Tatman and MR Fidel Alonso was too lenient.
I upped it to 4 games each. Then I took a look at the tape and decided that I would run an RNG to determine how many participants in the brawl actually deserved a suspension. I started with this: Both teams had a 50% chance of 1 more player getting ejected. If the 50% roll succeeded for either team then there would be a 25% chance for a second. If that roll succeed then there would be a 10% for a third. It turns out that Baltimore got 2 more players involved and Boston got 1. So, I assumed Baltimore Robert Morales who had been hit twice during the series would be pissed off. He got 2 games. Vocal Baltimore captain 3B Malik Nathan would lead the charge got 2 games. Boston CF Scotty Knight was just itching to fight earlier so I assumed he would be involved. He got 4 games.

Am I the only one who does crazy stuff like this? I always thought brawls would involve more than 2 players.

I don't think OOTP is programmed for there to be more than 2 players involved. But I totally agree that it would be cool.

here's an "easy" way to have more than 2 people in a brawl - have several brawls in one game
i just had a yankees v. red sox game with 4 brawls (they hit my guy, I hit their guy, they charge mound. it was the 3rd to last game of the season and the playoff situation was already decided, so the game meant nothing to me. So 4 guys not eligbile for the postseason roster were ejected on my part
