This is not very realistic

During a recent offseason, the league announced it was moving to a 24 man roster. This is crazy talk...can I update this?

MLB reduced its active roster to 24 from 1986-1990. So it's not without precedent in real life.

You can easily change the rule back to 25 in the league settings.

Also, disable or tweak the automatic league evolution setting if you want to avoid this in the future.

I understand the rule was 24 not all that long ago. I just find it unrealistic currently with all the focus on injuries and what not. I could see the MLB going to a 26 man roster at some point...but not down to 24 again.

Why is it unrealistic? You are playing a fictional league, doesnt matter if it is MLB or not. As BwBurke will say, "turn off League Evolution" Turn off certain LE boxes and it maybe more realistic to you.Personally I liked when my ABF league went from a 25 to 24 and 40 down to 38. Made managing much harder.

League evolution is a feature. Evolution, by its very nature, is change. It is not intended to be realistic. It is intended to be different.

One more opportunity for me to urge the developers to turn this feature off by default, along with storylines. Nobody likes surprises.

While I leave storylines on I am with you that league evolution should be off by default.

Rather than start a thread, I figure this is as good a place as any to ask a league evolution question. Let's say I start a league using a specific region, Louisiana, Gulf Coast etc. and leave evolution on for relocations and expansion. Will the game recognize this the region specified or will my first expansion and relocation automatically be New York?

I am 99.9% sure the game will not consider your region. I mean, I am pretty sure any expansions will be within your COUNTRY, but it's quite possible you might get New York.

You could easily test this. Create a fictional league with ballcards, archive, and fictional faces turned off (for sim speed). Make it small, like 4 teams, all in your region. And then sim for a hundred years and see what happens.

Stupid stuff happens often when labor and management have a bad relationship.

Think of split seasons like in 1981. I believe most evolutionary changes in the game are things that have happened.
In the past, a ground rules double was deemed a home run. To us, that sounds not realistic, the DH was not MLB ready for 30 years, astroturf was never realistic but it is real, switch pitching is now here and left handed catcher. But the things change, ballparks change if you have evolution on.
