Angry Where the hell is the Yankees game?

I'm about to show my age, so if you are squeamish, cover your eyes and run from this thread! But before you do, remember that you will get there, too, if you are lucky! Ha, ha, ha!

So I turned on the boob tube. Hmmm. What channel is the Yankee game?

It's not on YES (Yankees Entertainment and Sports network, channel 70).

OK, then maybe it's on the local station (WOR 9). Oh, wait a minute, a couple of years ago, they got outbid by WPIX (11). Is it there? Uh, no, just some movie about a bratty kid and a loveable dog. Fortunately, it was in commercial break.

Now think, Bruce. Where else?

Oh yeah, I recently saw a game on Fox Sports (FS1 69) . . . nope. Crap, could they be on ESPN (36) or ESPN2 (35)? Nope (U.S. Tennis Open) and nope (college football: Buffalo at Penn State).

Doesn't TNT (37) show baseball once in a while? Click, click, watched a few seconds of "Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself" and wished I had those seconds back.

For Chrissakes, where the hell is the game? Don't tell me it got blacked out and it's on MLB TV exclusive?!?

Oh well. Gotta drop the remote, get up, and look it up in the newspaper (yes, I still read the newspaper - news actually printed on paper - what am I, 90 years old or something?).

D'oh! Why didn't I think of the local affiliate of the Fox Network itself (WNYW 5)? Of course!

My Sports TV Yesteryear: Less choices but . . . Less 24/7 saturation so that each game was more of a treat, a break from the routine. Less media hoopla and fanfare, more focus on the game itself. I enjoyed watching sports more when there was less of it, it seems to me.

Sometimes I'm the same way with the Reds games. BTW, I think TNT only shows games during the postseason and TBS usually has Sunday afternoon games.

NO arguement there. We've got something similiar up here where you have to figure out which channel group that's owned by Rogers or Bell has the game for the sport and team you want to watch, and how many millions it's going to cost, and if it's going to be blacked out or not.

I miss the days where if you wanted hockey or baseball, tune into CBC. Sure nine times out of ten you were forced to watch the Leafs suck wind instead of good teams like the Habs or the Sens, but at least you could find the game (and didn't cost you hundreds of dollars a year to do so)

I'm still like, "Wait, why aren't the Braves in this game on TBS?"

I have had this happen trying to find the White Sox lately. Between the Sox & Cubs they are on ABC 7, WGN, WCIU, FOX, ESPN, TNT or TBS, Comcast Sports Net CLTV & Channel 1000 which is owned by Comcast but sometimes you forget about it. I miss the days when they were on just 2 channels, WGN & Comcast or whatever it was called 10 years ago.
