Ollie Pickering 1896

Pickering was on the initial 1901 Cleveland entry into the American League. Here he is the following year.

Wiley Piatt 1898

Good pitcher at the turn of the century, Piatt is pictured here with the 1902 White Sox.

ToppsVault GA501

This photo, GA501, is found within a selection of Carl Taylor shots.

I'm not convinced it is Taylor. Doesn't resemble Jerry May (nor does the unif # match, for either guy).

Any ideas?

Thankew,
J

That 100% looks like Carl Taylor to me.

Carl Taylor

Different shoot, but clearly the same guy. As to the number, Carl Taylor attended about half a dozen Pirates training camps dating back to 1963 or so. He'll appear in several different uniforms.

Wrapping two more threads, plus

This is one last piece of unfinished business that would bother me had I let it go. Trust me. I am taking a break.

This is the only non-ID'd image in HP (002). Want to be obvious and say it's Campanella, but is really Earl Robinson or somebody else?

This was a mis-ID's image in Folder GC (784). Only this week was shown.

These last three images are some attention for the mega-BC Folder. Originally 2,025 images, ID'ing these would cut the ID's needed to 23!

I'm going all in on BC2503 being Pitcher Bob Miller.... From St Louis, was a bonus baby for the Cards, and was the pride of Beaumont High.

ID's

That's neither Roy Campanella nor Earl Robinson (who played 876 games in the majors and minors and didn't catch once in any of them). And the Cardinal pitcher at the bottom is only depicted on 15 different Topps cards with six different teams.

From the top:
Charlie White, Orioles, 1959
Hal McClain, White Sox, 1973 (this is a Topps ID; they also identify another White Sox pitcher with a much thinner face as Hal McClain)
Jeoff Long, Cardinals, 1961 or 1962 (reached majors as 1B)
Ed Roebuck, Dodgers, 1957
Bob L. Miller, Cardinals, 1957.

In fairness, I think this was one of those situations where everybody seemed to want it done, but nobody wanted to do it. I know I sure didn't want to do it (and I'm terrible at facial recognition anyway...except with Mets). People have been willing to help out some, but someone had to take the lead. I think rico deserves some credit for stepping up and taking his swings, even if he swings and misses sometimes.
