Could use some help from Cubs, Pirates, Yankees & Astros fans for official OOTP sims

Hey All:

I'll be simming each round of the playoffs ahead of time in OOTP 16 and writing about it on the blog. I will sim each wild card play-in game (and the playoff series) multiple times and put together a composite of the results, with an official OOTP prediction of what we think could happen.

The playoff series won't be too tough, but the Wild Card play-in games could be trickier, since teams will be probably leaving a couple starters off their rosters and going heavier on position players and relievers. I've done a little looking online and have seen some speculation about who the 4 wild card teams will put on their rosters, but since we have some of the most knowledgeable fans in baseball here, I'm hoping that some Cubs, Pirates, Yankees, and Astros fans could offer their thoughts.

I have the Sept. 1 roster update, so I will be setting each team's roster accordingly and then using the exhibition module to simulate the games. A fun fact: Markus and Matt have added a "big game" option to the exhibition module for a version of the game they've given me. It won't be available to the public until OOTP 17 comes out next year, but it will allow me to sim the playoff games so the AI considers them as such, as opposed to exhibitions.

I'd like to put the wild card play-in games in one article published tomorrow, if possible, but I'm open to doing two articles, if anyone thinks an extra day could help get the NL game locked down. For now, though, I'm thinking I will sim and write the article tonight, with a plan to publish it tomorrow.

I appreciate any thoughts anyone has. I'll put this in the Beta forum too.

For the Yankees this roster looks pretty accurate:

Eovaldi's timetable accelerated (also: piecing together Yankees' wild card roster) - The LoHud Yankees Blog

The only difference that I think will happen is Nova off the roster, and Austin Romine adaded as a third catcher.

Thanks! That helps. I found a blog that was speculating on what the Cubs would do, but there were 2 writers and both had different ideas.

When do we know the final rosters? I assume teams don't want to tip their hands and reveal anything before they have to, but I also assume that if I wait until something official comes out, I won't have enough time to get everything done.

They don't have to announce the rosters until the morning of (at least I know the Jays don't have to officially announce their roster until Thursday morning). I don't think anyone will fault you if you get the 7th reliever wrong for one of these teams
