Can players who suffered CEI come back?

Can they make a long rehab and come back a la Grady Sizemore?
Im asking because I traded for Aaron Judge a year ago and at age 23 he suffered a torn labrum. I just want to know if I should follow him to maybe sign him later.

I may be wrong but I've never seen that happen. Of course you can always go to the player editor section and just uncheck career ending and just have them on the DL for a very long time

It wouldn't be much of a "CEI" if they came back.

There are long term injuries though that can suffer set backs and they can recover from it or retire. (won't be the same player of course)

I had a SP who suffered a torn labrum and missed 2 years before coming back as a Relief quality pitcher.

You can go into the editor and tailor it. I personally remove the instant CEI's in my file.

yes the instant CEIs do not make much sense. I would much rather have a guy suffer setbacks or a failure to progress.

I just had a player in my league suffer a 2-3 month off-field injury (falling off a ladder). A couple of days later, the injury was updated to be a broken back and updated to 12 months. The news article mentioned it may be a career ending injury (I don't have the game running, but it was something along the lines of "he'll have a long road of recovery and my not be able to return." It's the first time I've seen something like this...

Normally for CEI, I'll go into the editor if the player and change it to a 12 month injury (regardless of the team) unless the player's in his mid-30's.

import the injuries.txt file into excel or your spreadsheet program of your choice. there is a column marked Career Ending. Set all the rows that have a 1 to a 0. save. then reimport your injuries database.

Not sure if this only works on a new game or not. one of the first things I do every time before I start a new game.

This get rid of the instant CEI only. You will still have guys hang it up if they have too many setbacks and can't recover from a long injury.
