Couple questions on Hall of Fame Voting
Just started a fictional mlb-based universe and got to my first HOF vote and wondered what other people's experience has been...specifically:
1. Has anyone been voted in that you did not vote for? 2. has anyone you voted for not made it in?

i think its similar to all star voting in that if you vote for a player then the ai is more likely to vote for them

i usually disable auto-hof voting in a mlb universe, because i want to keep roid-heads out of the hall. not everyone shares this opinion. i don't play with real players anymore, though. in a fictional universe, i just let it go on it's own with minimum supervision. i've been trying different methods like 66% instead of 75% or allowing more players on individual ballots (one step up on the settings). i think i prefer the latter option. i think doing both would result in lesser players being inducted than i prefer, but i never tested that. so, just think about what is important to you and make it so. if you want (1) or (2) to be possible, you can control this. |

In my first vote, I left it as a 10 vote ballot, but upped the requirement to 80%. I only voted for 5, and all 5 of my votes got in, with the lowest guy getting 83%. The next closest person got 57%. If you look at the metrics, they were pretty close in terms of HOF Standard and Monitor scores, though one was a pitcher (got in) and one was a 1B (did not). So it got me wondering about this voting thing because all things considered they should get nearly the same number of votes.

I usually set it to 80% to get in, <15% and you're off the ballot, 10 years experience and 15 guys per ballot. I like having guys that are borderline or deserve building up support every year, eliminating a lot of guys that aren't deserving early to free up spots and having a medium size HOF where a lot of consistently good-great guys get in alongside the shoe-ins. My biggest classes have been five but the average is probably about two.

Matt has told me that your votes are weighted more, but they're not interested in giving too much info about the secret sauce, since it's proprietary.
