No personnel

Why in my game do I not have a scout, bench coach, pitching coach, or hitting coach on my major league team? Is this new in this version? Also I never get any scouting reports even though I have monthly checked?

Do you have Scouting and Coaching enabled in league setup?

As GM of your team, it's up to you to hire people to fill those positions. Part of your budget planning, just like signing FA's.

OOTP doesn't do it for you, only for AI controlled Teams.

You could, of course, go to league setup and fill all teams with fictional personnel. They will be assigned contracts that count as part of your expenses.

Yes scouting is checked. There are no slots to fill in the personnel section. Only me, the GM, shows. That's what I'm saying, none of these positions are showing up. I know how to do this as I've played every version since the beginning. I started a season in 2015 and starting with the 2016 and now the 2017 seasons these positions disappeared.

Its possible all your coaches have either been released or just not hired. That happened to me once and I had a blank screen for coaches. Check another team, if they have coaches it just means your team fired or retired them all after the season

i've encountered a team that was not managing itself - like not signing personell and/or ignoring the do not disturb option.

are any of the teams listed out of alphabetical order from the menu drop down box to select the team to view - if not your own team? if so see if anything below sounds familiar, otherwise it's not likely to be related.

in my game (28teams, fictional):

something defintely got corrupted going all the way back to the creation of the game (i had numerous yearly backups). i didn't notice the problem until i quit my gm job and simmed forward to test some things. no personell was hired, no FA, etc.. this actually would have happened the entire time had i turned do not disturb on from the beginning, or quit my job in year 1.

what i noticed:

the dropdown list of teams changed order... boston moved down in the alphabet and teams shifted up 1 slot. i noticed players on boston's team showed that they were playing for detroit in their statistics. so i assume that somethign screwy happened with team id#'s. however, their news history still said they signed contracts with the correct team city/name.

i'm not sure if all the other teams the shifted up had this same issue with the team that previously inhabited that slot. i know boston was out of order, but i didn't check how many others had this same issue. i was just frustrated from losing 10 years and had to start fresh again, lol. so, i deleted everything immediately.

so, check if your teams in the drop down list are in correct alphabetical order. it might be based on the 3 character abbreviation or the city name, i can't remember which is the key. i cannot remember if it was the same in trade dropdown lists, so use the one from the main screen at the top - as if you were changing to view another team in your leage you don't control.

just wanted to say i figured out the problem with my issue of a team not governing itself....

2 teams had "DET" as their abbreviation (detroit and boston). 100% human error. still something to check if you messed around with abbreviations.

i was lucky to still have a template from that league. i had deleted every iteration of it in saved games and backups. figured i'd post my mistake in case it mislead anyone.
