Club Option, QO

If you have a player with a club option, can you decline it and still offer a QO? I know you can do it if its a player option and they decline it but does it work vice versa?

I had a player recently in this situation and I was not able to offer him a QO when I declined his option.

I just declined an option and did have the QO option. In my experience, this happens every time.

Just had this as an option with Justin Mornaeu at the end of the 2015 season. I declined the club option and he was available for a QO. I did not offer though.

I think the difference is you can't offer a QO unless the player played the full season for you.

Well then I'm very curious what happened in my game, because I had the player for 2 full seasons, turned down my team option, and he wasn't available for a QO. And he was coming off a good season as well.

bad morale from playing out of position?

i know withdrawing an offer has the result you are describing, but it doesn't sound like that would be a possibility here.

anyway, something to look into, if you haven't.

Morale has nothing to do with the default function of making a QO. If the 2012 CBA is in effect any FA with a team for the entire season is eligible for a QO no matter who or what options are declined.

Could be a league file specific bug. Has the 2012 CBA just been activated? I seem to remember the first season after activating that in my solo leagues did not go as expected. Some QO FA were not eligible and some traded FA were.
