Questions regarding OOTP 16 & 17

Hey there guys sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm pretty new.

Basically, I don't have many funds IRL and I'd like to purchase OOTP 16 since it's on sale on Steam for $10 which is pretty close to my price range.

I was wondering, around when is 17 speculated to come out and will it not overshadow 16 too hard? As in, will 16 still receive updates/fixes like roster moves, UI changes, or anything new the devs come up with etc.

Or should I just wait until 17 comes out and hope for a huge sale like 75% off or something? Thanks!

i think the updates for 16 are done with and the new rosters come opening day will only be for 17 (it is one draw to buy it i believe)

that being said, its only 10$. thats less then 1 visit to the movies

as for when exactly 17 is released, i dont know, but u could just check when the previous versions got released it likely is close to that timeframe

1 less visit to the movies for me is still 0 haha. I understand what you mean about the price, but you have to understand everyone's financial situation is different. $10 is laughable to most, but not to me :^).

Thank you for the reply, It's a shame the updates are probably done for 16 but I'll still be considering purchasing it since the sale goes on until January 4th I believe.

Dunno about the overshadowing, there's some very cool stuff that's being added to 17, but I can't talk about that at this point, sorry

Also on overshadowing, that'll end up being different for each individual, based on what changes get them excited.

As for the huge sale, this is almost certainly as huge as it gets. It is basically 75% off the original price now, I can't imagine it will go any lower.

Can't comment on a potential release date either, though to be fair I actually don't know anything about that

16 won't be receiving any more roster updates, that's certain. We're 100% in 17 mode now. There may be a patch if something big is discovered needs to be fixed but even that's highly unlikely. It's pretty well all about 17 now.

That being said, getting 16 would get you up to speed on the changes there, which will of course be carried forward in 17. Plus, 16 was a big jump forward itself, so you'll likely enjoy it a great deal over the next few months while waiting for 17.

If you can at all afford it, I'd say go for it. I don't think you'll ever regret getting 16 and putting some time into it, even if you end up getting 17 as well.

I sympathize but if updates never stopped this game would never have gotten to v2.

Sounds like your best bet is to grab 16 on sale. Most releases are March/April. I doubt you'd see a sale on 17 for more than 25% off before next Fall.

I've probably put in a hundred hours with 16 and that's only because I had a baby in August that drastically cut back my time.

I can't wait for 17 but I'm still playing 16 a few nights a week until then.

You had a baby? You're probably the first hard core female player I've seen on here.

Sorry, the misses had a baby and I spend my evenings watching her develop, changing diapers and giving back and/or foot massages to my beautiful and amazing partner in crime.

Thanks for all the friendly replies everyone, I'm liking this community already. I'm sold, guess I'll grab OOTP 16 on Steam. $10 seems like a steal for the game.

You'll not regret it.

Oh man, now all I want to do is call my fiancee "the swing and misses."

I recommend playing 16. At that price it is very reasonable. If you end up playing fictional like > 50% of us do then you won't be missing much. During that time you can acclimate to the game and wait for a deal on 17 which won't happen until late in the summer.

If you just absolutely have to have opening day MLB rosters then at some point you're going to have to lay out the cash. Or you can win my giveaway this year that I haven't announced.

Good.

Friend me on Steam and send me a chat message. I might have an extra preorder copy this year.

Up to and including 16, there's always a sale price during the real life all-star break, so early - mid summer

Also, once the game is officially announced, Markus usually has a period of X$ off for pre-orders.

So there's a few places to save
