Mid Season Development Update...Fire someone?
In my solo league I just got the July player development update and every Major leaguer and all of the AAA guys (except 1) dropped in ability. Should I fire someone? If so who?
I'm playing as a 2nd season expansion club (I play out all the games) so my talent is a bit thin, but the team is very young. (3 guys in their 30's everyone else in their late 20's with 2 or 3 25 or under). Everyone dropping in ratings has to be a sign of something, I'm just not sure what. Any advice? |

First thing I would do is check to see if there's a corresponding drop in performance. Sometimes rating changes are a reflection of changes throughout the league/world and not necessarily changes in a player's ability.
If you do find that most of the players who suffered rating drops are also now playing poorly, then I'd start to diagnose the problem. For me, I'd wait at least a couple more weeks before firing coaches. I'd probably first try tweeking some strategy settings and also taking a look at personality factors to see if the players are unhappy with team performance or anything like that. And I'd also look to see if any players are at a level that's too difficult for them at that time. While a demotion can have a negative effect, the long-term benefit of playing better will usually outweigh it in the end. |

more than likely you just witnessed the result of a major Talent Change Randomness ugly stick. (TCR setting can be controlled)
at any time a player can fall off the board potential-wise. take comfort in knowing it's just as likely to improve a scub as it is to ruin a good prospect. i think it's a greater effect when it occurs to a potential star, but nothing too crazy. stats might help you verify it occured, but it isn't a result of poor performance. this assumes you don't have a rookie-ball level palyer in AAA or something else that wouldn't make sense. be wary of any stats from a small sample size. especially between leagues and as a player is drastically changing in ability. those values have that much more static involved. unless it's just an obvious outlier, you can't trust the results. compare your scout to OSA ratings. if oyu skimp alot on minor league spending (less than league average), it's safe to bet the OSA is as good or better than your scout when it comes to minor league players. check back again next time your league rescouts, sometimes one will lag in noticing a talent change. if they both say the same thing, your player is most likely just not as good as he used to potentially be. unless you have 100% scouting accuracy, you can always keep hope... i would suggest trading him or using as part of a package as soon as possible... catch a team who still overvalues the player. What ratings changed? Was it the OVR/Stars rating or the ratings in their player profiles?
Did ratings change or did POT change? Scouts on? If so what are ratings? When did it happen? Did you just have an entire draft class assimilated into the ratings of your universe?
