I disagree. It may be a minor problem, but then it's also a minor fix. I don't think the game would be drastically altered if there are no injuries possible on the final out of an inning. And although you're right that the problem of the game making an immediate substitution wouldn't be solved for baserunner injuries, it would be solved for pitcher injuries, and those are probably the most important (a baserunner will probably just be replaced with the next guy on the depth chart, which is what the game would do anyway).

Ideally, of course, the best fix would be for the game to make a substitution only when it's necessary. But that seems to be a big ask, so the next best thing might just be to eliminate injuries that occur on the third out of an inning. I am, however, willing to be swayed by better suggestions.

That is like the people who say 'turn off evolution' because one part of it doesn't work right.

No.... fix the part that doesn't work right.

Don't add a workaround that is worse than the problem it is trying to 'fix'.

This is an issue that comes up every year. For next year, we can look to see if there's something that we can do to fix this. No promises, though, and there's a strong chance that anything we fix in this will cause new issues (at the very least, we're going to see a case where the AI doesn't realize that they need a new player, and end up using the last guy off their bench for some other case, which I'm sure will lead to a whole slew of new issues).
How about letting injured players play? The AI could be told that it has to replace an injured player who needs to do something (bat, pitch or take the field on defense). Players would have to figure that out themselves. If they didn't, there could be a huge performance penalty.

I had an even bigger issue recently.

In extra innings, my reliever got the game winning hit in the bottom of the umteenth (Huzzah!). However he pulled a muscle on the base paths. So he was replaced despite the fact that the game was over!

Not only that but the replacement was another pitcher who was credited with the win! All zeros on his pitching line, but he vultured the victory.

Let me start by saying I absolutely love this game and have loved it for many years now. I have brought this up in previous versions of the game as well. I think it is a bigger issue then some. I had it happen in a nippon league game I played out last night, closer injured after last pitch of game, had to bring in new pitcher who received a save even though he never "really" entered the game. Becasue I play out every game and generally only go through 1 or 2 seasons each version, that one mistake in scoring affects the leagues statistics and bothers me greatly.

It seems pretty clear that the game will not complete the play on which the injury occurred until that player is replaced in the lineup. That's why we're seeing wins and saves credited incorrectly. I don't know what the solution is, but hopefully it's something that can be addressed in a future update.

It seems like some kind of placeholder or "ghost" player inserted into the lineup until that player has to bat or play the field would be an appropriate solution, assuming something like that wouldn't be too complex to code.

I think the problem is that the game constantly checks to see if the line-up is full.

Once the game starts there is no reason to do that. Check every time a player needs to do something (every time the team takes the field, check all the defensive positions, when a batter comes up, check that position in the line-up). That's it (other than starting the game).

I hope you reported this in the bug thread Leo. That has to be aggravating and frustrating. Thanks.

My original anti-league-evolution campaign was indeed based off the Astros move and the complications coming from it, but league evolution in itself is a feature that a good portion of the player base doesn't like.

I've never advocated for league evolution to be completely removed from the game, merely for it to be turned off by default.
