AI showing its hand?
I've got a rookie with the potential to be a 5 tool player. A few actually, but over the past few months of game time I got at least a dozen trade offers that incorporate this possible stud in the transaction.
Is the game telling me that this is The One to hold on to? |

They could be buying into the hype - I've also had the AI give me great deal offers for scrubs in my minors then nothing for my absolute stud right fielder who had won three gold gloves and two straight MVPs.
Just chalk it up as people valuing the future more than the present and past.

If you play with full scouting on that can also skew things. Some team's scouts may love this guy as much as yours, others won't be picking up the phone.

i keep a good scout and spend well on scouting. if a team offers somethign for a scrub MiL player, i jump on it asap. i trust that my scout and budget is better than their's.
if you have 100% scouting, there is no tipping of the hand. you already know for sure how they are currently rated ovr/pot. the ai is acting on the same type of stuff you see - ratings / results / whatever else etc... so, they merely see high ratings from their perspective and want/need that player. if they spend more than you and have a better scout, then you should think about the possibility that your scout is wrong one. |

Yeah, if you can trust your scout, that's good. I check the prospect ratings for guys in my farm system I'm surprised to see. Huh? That guy? Those guys get traded.

i've seen extremely highly rated pitcher down around the bottom of the top-100. i see average prospects near the top, too. that should tell you enough about the value of that list. don't rely on what the game spoon feeds. e.g. in this context a custom filter and sorting by ratings will give way better information about who the best prospects are in your league. edit: think i misread what you wrote... you find the disconnect for potential trade bait... leaving the rest above for hell of it. I have never relied too heavily on star ratings. The kid is in my single a team and his stats look average. His potential ratings are through the roof though and the number of trade proposals I get makes me want to set him to "untouchable" and he's only 19.
