Is OOTP bad for a SSD?

I've read that the continuous read/write can signifigantly shorten the life of a SSD hard drive? Is this true? Is it wise to avoid SSD?

No issues, OOTP does not read / write more than any other program which saves data to disk.

While in simulation my current disk drive spikes, I think that's whats leading to my lengthy simulations. Doing fair research SSD seems like the best way to go nowadays. Can you confirm that OOTP operates better with SSD? I made a thread last night looking at new PC to better operate OOTP. First year player in love with it, but may need to upgrade my laptop to get better performance. Just trying to find what aspects of a system will be of importance in operating OOTP at a high quality.

I wondered this myself, especially since I splurged on one last Christmas.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't OOTP write a large amount of data to the disk, at least it does if you're doing long-term sims? Sure, we might be able to cite programs that write more (video editors?), but my guess is for the average user doing long-term sims OOTP writes more than most programs.

If someone was wanting to prolong the life of their SSD and had the option of writing to an SSD or not, it might be best to not. I wasn't going to get rid of my SSD and I'm not going to bother hooking up an external to sim OOTP so I just went for it, but for others the choice might be different.

Since we store text in a SQL database now we don not write to disk that often at all anymore.

Been using it for several years. Zero issues

SSD wear on a consumer level hasn't been an issue for quite awhile. The real bugbear is $/GB, where harddisks still reign supreme. For games like OOTP this isn't an issue, but if you're playing 3d games where a single game can sometimes take 50GB in extreme cases, and in regular cases take 5-10GB, it adds up fast.
