Do All New Real World League Games Start Two Weeks Before the Season?
Whenever I have tried to start a new custom game, choosing to create a real world league to start with, they all start on March 18th, two weeks before the first game, which is well out of preseason and into Spring Training. That's no problem if I just want to dive in and go, but if I wanted to make some settings changes, like add a new league or change the schedule length or add or delete the All Star Game, it's already too late to do so. I would prefer it start on January 1st, but I can't figure out how to change that. Is this the way it just is, or can this be changed somehow?

I believe all real-world leagues start around that time.
Fictional leagues start on April 1. Unfortunately, there aren't many options for changing this.

It might change if you disable the international leagues.
BTW, it is not too late to change settings, because there is no year 1 ST so you're technically still in the preseason. |

That may be, but one thing for sure is that I am not able to change the schedule length through the interface (I think because the schedule is established as soon as the game starts), nor am I able to add an All-Star game (check in the box disappears as soon as I tick it).

I believe they start a few days before the first game of the earliest starting league you choose to have. Basically, enough time for that league to have a fantasy draft if you want. If you only do MLB it will start a couple days before MLB opening day.

Do a workaround. Start with your mlb league (or a custom domestic league) only and play until november or so and then import your international league so you can edit it and start in Jan. Then you can either keep or delete your domestic league

1. create a fake custom game with just a couple of teams and set the start date to Jan. 1 and save it as a template. 2. Now create a new custom game and set it up the way you want and save it as a template. 3. Create a new game using your fake custom template and then import the new custom game template and your season will start on Jan. 1 2016. 4. Now you can delete the fake league and associated players. I do this with every new version of ootp so I can start my NCAA D1 lg. in Feb. and the Majors, Minors start on their opening day. It also allows me to have the Majors spring training games and make any adjustments to schedules and such so all goes smoothly during the season. Note: You always need to load the fake lg. template first as the first loaded template controls the game's start date. ![]() I'm still using the template to control the start date I made in ootp 14. So as long as nothing changes in the way templates are used, you should be able to use the template in future versions as well. One more thing....Once you've got the game the way you want it, save it as a quickstart and you'll be able to restart at the beginning if anything goes wrong....templates don't save most settings, a quickstart does. Templates and quickstarts are your best friend when you like to experiment. ![]() Last edited by Bigrod; 05-03-2016 at 03:15 PM. |
