Always a little weird going on eBay and finding an image I created out of whole cloth has been printed up, signed, and put up for sale.

This Bill Edgerton was a combination of a minor league headshot from Bill's time with Birmingham (most likely) and Mike Hegan's body from a Mike Anderson postcard, then colorized. I posted it on Baseball-Birthdays over two years ago as part of my custom Pilots set. Since Bill signed it, I guess that's sort of an indirect seal of approval. Still...just kinda weird.

John Brackenridge 1904
The major league career of John Brackenridge consisted of pitching in seven games for the Phillies in April and May of 1904, including just one start. He gave up four home runs in 34 innings. Brackenridge continued in the minors through 1913.

I can't reconcile the apparent age difference between the fact that Julian Gonzalez was 21 when he appeared on the Angels' spring roster in 1985 and the unidentified player above looks to be substantially older, but perhaps this 1985 TCMA Midland Angels baseball card is at least food for thought.

There do not seem to be any other candidates with surnames which begin with Gom... or Gon... Among the coaches, there would only be Preston Gomez, and it certainly is not he.

That's Mr. Gonzalez, and given the frequency with which players shaved 1-5 years off their age in the 20th Century, plus the fact that the terrible lighting tripled his facial shadows and made him look a little gray - good detective work with an extraordinarily common name.

George "Dumpling" Hildebrand 1902
Hildebrand played eleven games in left field for Brooklyn in April 1902; the rest of his professional playing career was in the minor leagues. After his retirement as a player, he served as an umpire in the American League for more than twenty years.

Nice image of the Cuban catcher being offered on eBay by belltownvintage. I have switched off the color for it as I find a straight B&W results in a clearer image than one naturally yellowed over time. Not sure if you can read the back, but the image is dated October 14, 1926.

First, my apologies for being relatively absent over the past few months. Work life gets in the way sometimes...

I've updated the online version of the Pegasus27 UIN list, which can be accessed through the link in my signature line.

After Pegasus updated his list last December, I've been auditing the list against the last release of the Batters and Pitchers packs (from 2012). I then combined the list with my own needs list to form a master UIN list for players who debuted between 1925 and 1990. During my audit I found:

5 entries which were already included in the 2012 packs (highlighted in green)
3 entries listed with teams for which they never played (highlighted in red)
110 entries that had been posted in this thread (highlighted in yellow and linked to the post)
117 entries added to the list (entered in red type)
136 entries that I have in my collection (highlighted in gray)

I'm also working on a list of airbrushed and/or Photoshopped (there are some which are BOTH!) images in the packs. That list currently stands at 37 entries but is sure to grow. I may add that as another spreadsheet on my UIN list page at some point in the near future.

Asking the board's indulgence before I begin, I plan to post the aforementioned 136 UIN updates over the next few days. After that, I'll start expanding the UIN list to cover debuts prior to and after the current group of players.

A belated thanks to Pegasus for the list update, and to all those who help chip away at the list.

Skip Schumaker,36, who earned two World Series championship rings with the St. Louis Cardinals retired during Spring Training with the San Diego Padres after a nice 11 year career in the major leagues
(2005-2015). He was a contributor to the 2006 and 2011 St. Louis Cardinals World's Championship teams.
Schumaker was an outfielder/second baseman. He hit over .300 twice as an everyday player, in 2008, primarily as an outfielder, and in 2009, when played mostly as a second baseman.
He spent the first eight years of his career (2005-2012) with the Cardinals.
Photos of Schumaker with his various teams are requested, along with any photos that may be available of him from this year's Spring Training with San Diego, a team he never actually performed for in the regular season.

Champ Osteen 1903
James Champlin Osteen began his baseball career in a South Carolina textile league, and then played in organized baseball's minor leagues until September 1903, when he played ten games at shortstop for the Washington Senators. In 1904, he played third base, shortstop, and first base in 28 games for the New York Highlanders (pictured below). Champ was then back in the minors until his last major league stop with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1908 and early 1909 at a third baseman-shortstop. His career major-league batting average was .197.

As I start posting these updates, I should note that not all are great images but they at least give us hope that a player/team combination is possible. Many come from team photos, as the second Papai image below.

One more note, as I post these I'll update the UIN list, changing the gray bands to yellow with a link.
