Jim Roland (1962)

A nice black & white shot of him with the Yankees in 1972 from a memorial page on his high school site (brightened up a little by me)

he was signed by the angels early 1989 and was a non roster in 1989 spring and released before the 1989 season

I came across a photo this morning of Fred Newman in an "LA" hat, but with the "Angels" lettering on the chest of his road uni being dark with red trim instead of red with dark trim.

It's not apparent from "Dressed to the Nines" (I suppose I've seen a few other missing things there before, too) but does anyone know if the lettering changed in 1965 as above before the change to the CA hats?

Showed the pics to Jim Driscoll and he confirmed it's Dusan.

Jim Dwyer 1973

A veritable sampler of the three shortest stops in this 18-year platoon outfielder, first baseman, pinch-hitter's career: 1978 Giants (73 games), 1976 Mets (11 games), 1977 Cubs (September call-up, released before he played a game, that'd be him in Spring Training).

Today's Topps uploads (new folder KB) 1-4 Mike Easler; 5-6 Arnold Earley; 7-8 Scotty Earl; 9-10 Jimmy Dykes; 11-14 Duffy Dyer; 15-18 Jim Dwyer; 19-20 Bob Dustal; 21-22 Mike Edwards; 23-24 Dave Edwards; 25-26 Bill Edgerton; 27-28 Butch Edge; 29-30 Mike Eden; 31-32 Benny Joe Edelin; 33-34 Steve Eddy; 35-36 Don Eddy; 37-40 Jamie Easterly.

(BTW I want to thank Topps for underscoring my point above - about returning to the same photo shoot packets weeks or months later and making White Whale images into commonplace ones. Think of Steve Eddy of the '79 Angels, of whom not a single color photo nor even a good major league B&W was known. Topps has now uploaded four of them).

Bob Dustal 1963

Spent eight years and pitched 294 games with nine Tigers affiliates before breaking camp with the big club in 1963. Lasted through seven appearances but not the mid-May cutdown date and went back into the Tiger system as a player and then manager through 1971.

Pitching pose is from spring training at Lakeland, 1964; head shot, at Yankee Stadium, April 16/17, 1963.

Butch Edge 1979

Highly-regarded prospect in the Brewers' system, 12th overall pick in the 1976 American League expansion draft, present at the Blue Jays' first training camp, Edge didn't make the majors until August, 1979, and when the season ended so did his MLB career.

In fact, his brief stay was "commemorated" by having somebody else's photo on his only Topps card. "Butch Edge" on the 1980 Blue Jays Rookies card is actually third baseman Butch Alberts.

I'm new to this forum, but I've read some posts that mention Topps Vault folders. Can these folders be viewed somewhere? If so, where can I find them?

Missing Player Fred Worden 1914 Philadelphia Athletics

Here's a photo of Fred Worden, who pitched one game for the 1914 Philadelphia Athletics.

He is pictured in the 1917 Spalding Guide in the Hanover Raiders 1916 Team Photo of the Blue Ridge League, under the name Werden.

His name was frequently misspelled as Warden or Werden in papers of the time. I found clipping in the October 5, 1917 Gettysburg (PA) Times making reference to him marrying a local woman and having played several seasons for the Hanover Blue Ridge Club. He played 1917 with Frederick in the same league and semi-pro ball.

Are there separate Topps Vault folders for football pics?

Tom Egan 1965

Seldom seen in the stretch knits worn during his reprise with the 74-75 Angels.

BTW no separate files for anything at the holding site. Baseball, football, negatives, Wacky Packages - whatever Topps sells on eBay gets posted in those files.

Referring to an earlier post, none of these players have appeared on the Vault checklist so far.
Trying to find a photo to see if 053-054 is Todd Eggertsen, who the Angels once had high hopes for.

Plenty of minor league cards of Eggertsen and it sure looks like him.

Todd Eggertsen was in the Angels' spring camp in 1986 as a non-roster invitee, so the opportunity was there for a photo to be taken in an Angels uniform.
